“Providing care and education in a quality setting for children aged 3 to 5 years”

Curriculum

Curriculum

Our team of qualified practitioners aim to promote the learning and development of each child to reach their full potential whilst in the setting. Each practitioner is allocated key children and they assess each child’s developmental stage and provide activities to help them move on. The child’s culture, background and any special needs are taken into account. Each child’s starting point and progress is documented through regular observation and assessment.

Active learning is very much planned for; story and group time is supported through props and opportunities for child involvement are provided. The room layout and range of equipment ensure all seven areas of the curriculum are covered on a regular basis. There is a good balance of adult led and child-initiated activities. Our planning is done to meet the needs and interests of the children and as a result it is quite spontaneous.

We operate a free flow system where the children independently decide whether they want to play inside or outside. The curriculum is extended to include the outdoor area which encourages the children to get fresh air and be physically active each session. Staff explain the benefits of physical activity to the children in a language they understand.
